Convenor

The organizer for badminton is WRBC jointly with Ebenzer. If you have any queries for the convenor please go to the Contact us page.

Rules

The competition will be based on the Badminton World Federation Laws of Badminton as far as practicable. In summary they are:

Equipment used shall adhere to BWF rules.

Teams should report to the starting bench at least 15 minutes before the scheduled round to register the actual players of the matches. If a team does not report by the scheduled time, the umpire will declare a mandatory walk-over.

One minute of warming-up serves may be taken before the first game of a match.

Players are not restricted to any age limitations.

Different players may play in different matches for a team. But the same players shall play in all games in each match.

A match outcome shall be one of the following:

Equipment provided will be shuttlecocks and net. Players are to bring their own rackets.

Format

All matches are doubles matches. There will be a men's double and a mixed doubles competition.

Each church needs to field at least four players. Different players may play in different matches. However, the players for all games in a match must not change.

The format of play is round robin. Each team will play against every other team in the event once.

To allow the competition to proceed in an orderly fashion, competitors should aim to finish a match within twenty (20) minutes.

The total points gained by each church will be used to determine the winning positions.

Grand Finale

The top two churches at the end of the competition will play a final exhibition doubles match at 3.30pm in court 2.

Each side shall consist of two players of any category.

It is expected that everyone less those still bowling will be cheering the grand finale match.

Registration

As badminton is a team only event, all interested players must register through their church badminton or sports representative.

All applications must be received by the organizer before July 29, 2011 to be considered.
